ACSC21 Band – ‘Knife Fight in a Phone Box’ Surgeon Commander Nick Imm
KNIFE FIGHT IN A Phone Box has had an incredible year!! The 2017/18 tour kicked off with an intimate gig in the Shag’s Bar, following the Sports Olympiad – a perfect opportunity for us to try fresh material amongst friends. A rush of bookings for syndicate dinners followed and we enjoyed a regular residency in the College bars with our uplifting mix of rock, pop, funk and soul, skilfully controlled from the sound desk by Ian.
Christmas is such a memorable time for the Fighters. Who could forget lovely Lisa’s beautiful
rock interpretation of “The Snowman” or our moving tribute to Band Aid? Nick and Gus (horn section
and band eye-candy) even swapped their sax and trumpet for penny whistles to re-create the authentic Pogues’ sound. Of course, mellow Jen simply owned “Valerie.”
Never afraid to experiment with different genres, the cut-down Rockaoke sessions enabled the Fighters to work with new music in a variety of niche ensembles. Beautiful ballads, rousing anthems and groovy jazz.... no stylistic stone was left unturned......
