Regional Security Exercise 2, Ends Module – United States Wing Commander Dave Tait
THOSE ACSC STUDENTS UNDERTAKING the Ends Module were promised an interesting visit to Washington and New York,
with recent tumultuous changes in US foreign policy. A total of ninety- three staff and students arrived in the US following
the historic summit between Chairman Kim Jong-Un and President Trump, which provided hope of denuclearising the Korean Peninsula; in addition to an emerging ‘trade war’ between the US and China/Europe. These points, coupled
with an impending NATO Summit where President Trump was expected to press European NATO members to increase defence expenditure, provided students with a rich source of discussion. The programme of speakers was truly excellent, and included: Congress and US Defence think tanks; British Diplomatic staff; senior US military officers and National Security Council advisors. The Course appreciated the extremely candid discussions the presenters facilitated on a raft of policy issues and the current US Administration.
In New York City, the Course had the opportunity to be briefed by UN Councillors and Senior Military
