Motivated by their pole position, A Div maintained an early lead, exercising to the relentless support
of their Division to secure recognition as ACSC 21 Superstars. But C Div were not to be deterred. Their ‘comical headdress’ theme proved popular with judges, an eclectic array of hats netting bonus fancy dress points and with double points up for grabs in the Rowing challenge C Div had saved it all for last. Div Captain and tournament organiser Lieutenant Colonel James Brain RM and his team dominated from the outset. Amongst deafening applause and despite valiant efforts across all oars. C Div crossed the line with ample clear water astern, taking Gold in Rowing, overall tournament victory and defacto bragging rights until 2018.
Professor of Defence Studies Matt Uttley kindly presented the winning Trophy with Lieutenant Colonel Brain accepting on behalf of C Div for the first time since 2013. With spirit and teamworked fostered over sporting ground, staff and students retired to a BBQ to share tales of sporting prowess and welcome the debut of ACSC 21’s band, Knife Fight In A
Phone Box in their inaugural set of the calendar year. Reflecting on her students’ victory, C Div Director Group Captain Anne Keetley said: “Whilst history always repeats itself, it has taken a long time since the last C Div victory in 2013 and our win yesterday was a true demonstration of grit, determination and a little bit of skill...the challenge now is where to display the silver!”
