A GUIDE TO KEEPING IN CONTACT WITH THE CORMORANT CLUB
Future Cormorant Club communication will be mostly electronic using the Defence Academy’s website (www.da.mod.uk/alumni/the-cormorant- club), by email and the business networking
site LinkedIn. The Cormorant Magazine and noti cation of news, and especially reunions, will be posted on these sites. The advantage of joining LinkedIn is that you will be automatically informed by e-mail of news about the club.
To join LinkedIn you will need to have access to the internet and possess an email address, then:
1) Through your web browser, search for LinkedIn or use this url: http://uk.linkedin.com/
2) Fill in the necessary basic details to join LinkedIn – rst name, last name, e-mail address and selected password. Once you are a member, there is no need to provide any further information beyond those basics unless you feel the urge to do so.
3) There are 2 groups you may wish to join: • The Cormorant Club (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/5113439) • JSCSC Alumni (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/4130014)
4) Both groups are “closed” and you will need to hit “Ask to join”. You will be accepted on the strength of your database details – although you may be asked to clarify some details to maintain the security of our group.
5) In order to receive “announcements” from the club via LinkedIn, please ensure the e-mail details you have supplied to LinkedIn are correct. You may also need to check the “junk” folder of your e-mail – and mark announcements from the club as “not junk”.
There is bene t in visiting the LinkedIn group regularly – and in particular creating and commenting on posts. Visiting the Defence Academy website is also valuable. You can submit updated details via the web form at
the “Club Members’ Database” section of the website. This is especially recommended if you have not heard from the club by e-mail recently.
