visit incorporated only two countries; the West’s main regional partner Saudi Arabia and the UK’s closest ally Jordan. When visiting the latter she outlined the UK’s desire to cooperate with Jordan in tackling extremism and the UK’s desire to continue to support the development of the JAF. Equally, with its experience of United Nations operations and growing military academic institutions, such as its National Defence College, Jordan has much it can teach the UK.
In a Middle East still racked by instability Jordan remains a steadfast ally and a remarkable success story. Despite insecurities both internal and external that would overwhelm most other states, Jordan manages to remain a safe-harbour for all and a voice of moderation. A vital ally in the ongoing
ght against Daesh and the GCC’s counter to
Iranian encroachment, it will equally play a key role

a lead and as a basing location. Finally, it remains
a key guiding voice in the search for an enduring Israeli-Palestinian solution. It is a certainty that
Jordan has a key role to play in nding a way to attain ever-allusive stability in the Middle East.
