The books ability to keep the terminology simple and easy to understand is a great strength. It also allows for the academics amongst us to explore concepts in depth as there are further reading suggestions at the end of each chapter, so if a particular subject strikes a note with you it facilitates the ability to really delve into it. Additionally, there are a number of tasks that are spread throughout which again are a useful tool to embed the knowledge covered or to simply question and explore your own delivery.
In short, this book is essential reading for anyone who teaches a sport regardless of
whether it is an “Adventure” sport or
not. It breaks down, probes and questions your delivery methods and techniques, promoting self-examination on past and future sessions. It gives examples of new ideas and behaviours to implement which are taken from a wide spectrum of sports. This book is sure to aid even a seasoned “expert” in their delivery and facilitate a better learning experience for students.
