memorable. I was busy photographing Black-tailed Godwits in flight as they streamed past the West Hide enroute to their roost. I made a quick check of the pics and suddenly no􏰀ced the Hudwit in the frame – his dis􏰀nc􏰀ve black underwing on full display! I called this to the other birders in the hide and they had just spo􏰁ed it heading off to the high 􏰀de roost on the saltmarsh edge. The Hudwit con􏰀nued to make appearances over the following few weeks, even se􏰁ling down to feed in front of the hide on one occasion; and again, quite memorably, joining up with both Black- tailed and Bar-tailed godwits, for what must surely be quite a rare mee􏰀ng of the three species.
I’m planning another GBC visit to Connah’s Quay in August next year and hope you may be able to join me. I can’t promise any rari􏰀es like the Hudsonian Godwit but there is sure to be plenty of interest.
