memorable. I was busy photographing Black-tailed Godwits in flight as they streamed past the West Hide enroute to their roost. I made a quick check of the pics and suddenly noced the Hudwit in the frame – his disncve black underwing on full display! I called this to the other birders in the hide and they had just spoed it heading off to the high de roost on the saltmarsh edge. The Hudwit connued to make appearances over the following few weeks, even seling down to feed in front of the hide on one occasion; and again, quite memorably, joining up with both Black- tailed and Bar-tailed godwits, for what must surely be quite a rare meeng of the three species.
I’m planning another GBC visit to Connah’s Quay in August next year and hope you may be able to join me. I can’t promise any raries like the Hudsonian Godwit but there is sure to be plenty of interest.
