Objects of the Charity
The operational activities are restricted to the objects laid down in the Constitution. The objects are to:
 1.
2.
To promote the efficiency of the Army by:
a. maintaining contact between past and present
members of the QARANC (the Corps), fostering mutual friendship between them and providing for social gatherings for them
b. fostering spirit de corps, comradeship and the welfare of the corps and preserving its traditions.
To relieve either generally or individually members of the Association or past and present members of the Corps and their dependants, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress (beneficiaries).
Structure, Governance and Management
The General Secretary of the QARANC Association and an administrative assistant (who is shared with the other three corps of the Army Medical Services) carry out the work of the Association on a day to day basis. Book keeping services are contracted. The QARANC Association is administered and managed by the Board of Trustees (Central Committee) who are Managing Trustees of all funds and property of the Association. The Board consists of a President, Vice President, Chairman, Vice Chairman, 4 Ex-Officio Members, 3 Nominated Members and 4 Elected Members. At present the Chairman’s post is filled by an Ex Officio Member – hence there currently being 5 elected members. A Trustee and the Gazette Editor have each been paid an honorarium during this financial year.
Risk Management
Risks to which the Charity may be exposed have been identified and agreed by the Trustees. A principal threat to the QARANC Association is loss of investment income. The system which has been put in place to manage this is by incorporating funds in the actively managed Armed Forces Common Investment Fund. The Trustees consider that by incorporating funds within a large common investment fund, losses and risks may be minimised.
