1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery
With L Bty Tac Gp deploying now on the last ROTO of Op CABRIT supported by the Ch Tp Gun Gp, the end of this Op CABRIT cycle is in sight and the Regiment has performed superbly throughout; ensuring that each Bat- tle Group is well supported but equally that our international allies feel the strength of our partnership.
The Regiment, however, will not take a check pace as Lead ABCT commitments in 2025 requires validation on Ex CER- BERUS in Oct 2024 in Sennelager, in order to take up the com- mitment. Transition to light gun for B Bty and subsequently the Ch Tp will see the capability gap reduced prior to the arrival of Archer. Equally the Tac Gps of the Regiment will conduct the preparation training for the arrival of AJAX in 2025, with full scales expected shortly after.
The Regiment will again support the Division validation as part of Ex WARFIGHTER in Texas at Easter and will be experiment-
ing with the ‘Bde in a box concept’ on Ex IRON STORM 25/1 that will see E Bty supporting the QRH as they go through validation but with wider experimentation across the rest of the Bde. The Regiment continues to facilitate and experiment with DRS deployment concepts and will deploy the Lead Fires Group next year alongside 3 RHA as part of Ex SCORPION CYCLONE, before assuming additional readiness taskings.
With the Regiment off the operational treadmill shortly it will be great to have the whole Regiment back in March 2025, which not only provides great opportunity for regimental training but also for the Regiment to embrace the more holistic elements of Regimental Duty such as sport, AT, career courses and driv- ing qualifications that have been kept as a steady drum beat of activity over the last period to the Regiments credit but can truly be exploited in spring next year.
