Day four was an easier an ascent of 475 and descent of 670 for 17km along wooded landscapes to our next refuge of Castellu di Vergio, where we had an admin day on day five to wash our clothes, reset our backpacks, have our second wild swim of the expedition and rest.

which was not going to be possible. Day seven resulted in an administration day at Ascu Stagnu due to the change in weather overnight leaving the ground slippery and wet and therefore the decision was made that it would be unsafe to head up the mountain.
On day eight, our group headed into a tough day over rocky terrain with scrambling up a descent of 710 and a descent of 850 over 6km finishing at Refuge de Carozzu.
The final day of the GR20, day ten, our group began their descent off the mountain finishing at Calenzana in the sublime sunshine looking for- ward to a well-deserved rest in Calvi for two days before making our journey back to the UK.
Day six was an early start for a
steep rocky climb following onto
a valley track for 15km, ascending 870m and descending 850m. With the sun still shining, this allowed for us to wild swim again in the moun- tains as a respite from the heat. One member of our group got sick, therefore our support team were called to take them off the mountain as they were unable to walk further. So, our Doctor and Mountain Leader escorted them to a meet- ing point where we then met the two later at ref- uge Bergerie de Ballone which was set next to a waterfall which was a welcomed relief after a day of walking, followed by a 3-course meal in the hut.
Day seven was a Grade 3 scramble, walking over rough tracks up to the highest point of the GR20 over 9km with an ascent of 1230m and descent of 1250m with an option to summit Monte Cinto, the highest mountain on the island at 2706m. A few members of our group decided to take on this challenge, upholding the Pegasus Ethos of determination, endurance, and selfless- ness. The other group began their descent down the mountain over challenging terrain in which our group sustained their first casualty with a fractured wrist from a fall, leading to a helicop- ter evacuation by the mountain rescue due to the route having more chains to climb down,

The GR20 was unquestionably a challenging route overall, allowing us to work on our leadership skills by planning our route each day and briefing the team. We showed our mental resilience, courage, and loy- alty to one another, supporting each other when days were long and tough. However, we felt very fortu- nate to be able to participate in this
