July will be month of celebration in our church as we celebrate Thrapston Church’s anniversary on Sunday 21st July, the Sunday before St James Day. The symbol for St James is a
scallop shell – have a look next time you pass and see if you can spot any.
We hope to see many of you in St
Nicholas Church, Islip for the Flower Festival which will run from Friday 5th-Sunday 7th July. Our theme is ‘Wedding anniversaries – from Paper to Diamond’ so look out for some very imaginative displays. The festival will be open from 10.30am-4.30pm on Friday 5th July and Saturday 6th and from 12.30pm-6.00pm on Sunday 7th concluding with 6@StNics. Refreshments will be served each day.
Our Curate, the Rev Andy Stilwell, who
has been working in our Benefice since July 2023, will be ordained priest in Peterborough Cathedral on Sunday 14th July and will be celebrating his first Holy Communion Service in St James Church on Sunday 21st July. We are grateful for his contribution to our church.
Our new Women’s Fellowship will be meeting again in St James Church on Wednesday 5th July at 7.30pm. For more information please email tdichurches@gmail.com or pick up a flyer.
Saturday 6th July there’s the popular Indoor Market from 9am-1pm with new and familiar stalls, some hopefully outside on the grass in the sunshine. Thanks must go to Suzanne Thurlow who puts together such a wide variety of stalls.
All our other regular church activities continue throughout July so pop in and see
us on a Tuesday or Saturday morning for coffee and a chat (10am-12 noon). You’ll be very welcome and it’s a good chance to meet new people. There is also a short Communion Service in the Chancel on Tuesday mornings from 9.45am-10.15am.
Praise and Play is ready to welcome under- fives and their grown ups from 9-10.30am on Monday mornings. Look for the flag outside St James Church and come on in! Special blessings go to the children who will be ‘graduating’ from Praise and Play on July 22nd and starting school in September. We’ll be taking a break for the summer and hope everyone has a lovely holiday.
Another popular place to meet and chat is knitting on Monday evenings. No need to book just come along to St James Church on Monday evenings from 6.30pm-8.00pm. All ages welcome! Sunday services are detailed below:
