A fast boat insertion to the hill
edge and skill of the stalkers and ghillies who took us was obvious, as they pitted their wits against a canny and at times, illusive, animal.
Each day was finished in the larder, where the deer were prepared and cleaned, ready to be taken by boat to the butcher, with the remaining meat divided up amongst eve- ryone to take home. The trip was not only hugely enjoyable, but served as an incred- ible way to become genuinely closer to nature. It is an experience from which all recce soldiers would benefit.
