THEML, Ml, ANDSPS AWARDS
. . . the only nationally recognised civilian qualifications
If you're interested in working in the outdoors, using your mountaineering skills outside of the Services, then gaining an MLTB qualification can often be the first step.
The Mountainwalking Leader Award (ML) is the nationally recognised mountainwalking award. JSMEL holders can apply for exemption from training for this award, and need only complete a logbook and attend assessment.
The Mountain Instructor Scheme is designed for those who want to teach all aspects of mountaineering, including multi-pitch rock and ice- climbmg. Entry requirements are the ML award, multi-pitch VS rock climbing ability and experience of outdoor instruction.
The Single Pitch Supervisors Award (SPSA) is a new award for those who want to supervise groups on climbing walls and single pitch crags. Candidates must have a genuine interest in climbing and group supervision.
