42 The Regimental Journal of The King’s Royal Hussars
In October, we conducted a joint Halloween party with the QRH. There is a long-standing tradition that these parties are the big- gest and the best, and this year was no exception. Likewise, the Christmas party at the Royal British Legion was also organised and delivered extremely well, with the Welfare staff of both the KRH & QRH playing the role of Santa and his elves and present- ing our regimental children with their Christmas presents.
As we closed for the year, the Regiment took delivery of over 400 Build-a-bear teddys from the Military Charity ‘Little Troopers’. Christmas gifts to the families of those deployed were also
sourced, and these teddies along with Christmas gift bags con- taining chocolates, Christmas themed socks, bath bombs, and other small Gizit’s were hastily delivered to addresses throughout the UK just before the next big Royal Mail strike kicked in.
A great deal of work goes on behind the scenes in the Welfare department, from organising events, maintain the overall Welfare of our people and providing an element of support for families in need. It is without doubt that the year was nothing less than a success.
