Cambrai Company, Hampshire & Isle of Wight ACF
Cambrai Company, Hampshire and Isle of
Wight Army Cadet Force have the distinct
honour in the county of being affiliated with
the King’s Royal Hussars (KRH). The com-
pany’s platoons at New Milton, Lymington
and Fordingbridge are all cap badged to the
KRH in affiliation and wear the beret proudly.
Part of the Cadets syllabus is the history and
structure of their affiliated regiments, and this
is no different for the KRH Army Cadets of
Cambrai Company. Over the last 12 months a
great amount of those cadets in the company affiliated with the KRH have enjoyed unprecedented successes.
The Cadets took part in their regular annual camp last sum- mer, which included fieldcraft exercises and military knowl- edge. They also tested their marksmanship principles whilst live firing on the ranges using the Cadet GP Rifle, a vari- ant of the L85A2. There were several that have rep-
resented the Company and County in sports, with a number due to represent the County
in a regional football tournament having been selected through County trials. Last November, KRH Army Cadets of Cambrai Company helped to pay their
respects to those that have served and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Dozens from the New Forest area were proudly seen volunteering their weekends away from school and their evenings raising money for the Royal British Legions Poppy Appeal, which culmi- nated in taking part in local military parades on Remembrance Sunday.
Finally, a young cadet from New Milton, cap
badged to the KRH received regional acco- lades by being selected to represent the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire as Lord Lieutenant Cadet for the next 12 months. Cpl Chloe Merrick (pictured), of No 6 New Milton Troop will escort and assist the county’s Lord Lieutenant, Nigel Atkinson as the Kings representative in the County. The 16-year-old was nominated for the honour in recognition of her accomplish-
ments since joining the army cadets four years ago.
All in Cambrai Company continue to be proud of their affiliation to the KRH and look for- ward to updating you on more success sto-
ries in the coming month.
