BUGLERS’ ASSOC
The highlights of the Buglers’ Association for this period have been varied and exceptional. They demonstrate how our Veteran Buglers support not only the Regimental Family but also the community at large.
The Veteran Buglers have sounded at 95 funerals, 45 memorial events and 10 concerts as well as fanfares for dignitaries. Highlights include supporting Paul ‘Coco’ Cocoran’s successful Jurassic Coast Fundraising Walk with a fanfare finale at RNLI Lyme Regis; concerts for our North East veterans in the Last Post Bar Stockton on Tees; fanfares for Emergency Services Day in Shrewsbury; commemorative calls at the Ballygawley Roadside Memorial in Northern Ireland; calls at the Double Hills Memorial at Poulton in the presence of Jacob Rees Mogg MP and Dan Morris, West of England Mayor; supporting the Armed Forces Covenant Presentation
at E Company 8 RIFLES and sounding calls for the River Thames Marine Community on board the Havengore on the Thames opposite Parliament. Other successes include
Bugler Adam Grey from the North-
East coming third in the RIFLES
Bugle Competition and Bugler
Paul ‘Sammy’ Goose receiving
the Colonel-in-Chief of the
RIFLES Commendation from
the Duchess of Cornwall for
his lockdown bugling
and fundraising. Despite
Covid restrictions, the
Buglers’ Association
continues to grow in
a large part due to the
success of the Minden
House Buglers led by
Bugler Kev Fawcett
with a total of 55
bugling members. The
Association is ready to
continue serving the
Regiment in 2022.
