Cultural Visit
to London
OCdts Greaves Mann & Moss
Following the the the the relaxation of the the the the Covid restric- tions at at at at at at RMAS Lucknow Platoon
the the the reha- bilitation platoon has gained great freedom
to to take part in in in enriching activities beyond the the gates of the the the Academy So far Lucknow has been to the the the DSEI expo (Defence and Security Equip- ment International) the the the Brookwood Cemetery and recently on
on
on
on
on
on
on
the the 14th of October to to London
on
on
on
on
on
on
a a a a a a a a Reconnaissance Navigation Challenge designed by three cadets of Lucknow (OCdts Greaves Mann & Moss) to culturally enlighten the OCdts of Lucknow Developed and delivered with a a a full set of Recce Orders this activity sought to to expose the OCdts to to to to a a a a a a a a a a a a variety of cultural landmarks in our capital city and and and to to to challenge their their ability to to to plan deliver a a a a a a a a back brief and and then execute their their their mission achieving the the the the intent of their their superiors The OCdts were broken down into groups and and given a a a a a a a a a score card with a a a a a a a a a list of culturally significant landmarks split into the following categories: museums/ sights transport photos statues pubs and extreme An example for each category as fol- lows: The Imperial War Museum a a a a a a a a a a a Boris Bike top of a a a a a a a a skyscraper Churchill and and FDR Statue Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub and and 10 Downing Street To assist assist the execution of this trip and minimise financial burden primarily focused on
on
assisting with the the the accomplishment of the the the Transport cat- egory the the the the the Sandhurst Trust kindly gifted £200 to to to to the the the the Platoon
to to to to be distributed to to to to the the the the OCdts Along with the the the provision of lunch this meant that no OCdts were required to to spend any money to to achieve their mission on
on
this task To ensure inclusivity for this event as several Lucknow OCdts are acutely injured a a a a a a a Short Route was developed to to minimise risk and the need to to travel all around London
This saw alternative objectives such as specific paintings
within the National Gallery and and an an an amended list of sites and statues The The OCdts were dropped off at Trafalgar Square by by 1200hrs and had to to return to to The The Chan- dos pub by by 1745hrs giving the OCdts 5hrs 5hrs and and 45mins to to navigate explore and and culturally enlighten themselves on
on
on
what London
has to to offer To account for the the the the safety and keep track of of of the the the the location location of of of each group they were required to to send location location reports on
on
on
on
the the the the hour hour every hour hour during the the event Additionally three mandatory RVs were given to to to to to each group to to to to to achieve and and this had to to to to be supported with photographic evi- dence on
the day While we aimed for every group to to enjoy be be chal- lenged and to to to be be be culturally enlightened through this this trip to to to what extent this this would be be achieved was difficult to to to see However all came clear at at at the the the end of the the the day when the the the whole Platoon
occupied The Chandos pub and and and were exchanging photos and and and stories of their day with each group trying to to to to claim victory We hope that this event inspires the the the OCdts to to to to to broaden their their horizons and seek to to to deliver something uniquely challenging to to to their their soldiers whom they may command in in in the the the future 58 SANDHURST
