a a a a a valley track for 15km ascending 870m and descending 850m With the the sun still shining this allowed for us to wild swim again in in in in in in the the the moun- tains as a a a a a a a a respite from the the the heat One member of our our group got sick therefore our our support team were were called to to to take them off the the the the the mountain as they were were unable to to to to walk further So our Doctor and Mountain Leader escorted them to to to a a a a a a a a meet- ing point where we then met the the the two later at at ref- uge Bergerie de Ballone which which was was set next to a a a a a a a a a a a a a waterfall which which was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a welcomed relief after a a a a a a a a a a a a a day of walking followed by a a a a a a a a a a a 3-course meal in in the hut Day seven was a a a a a a a Grade 3 scramble walking over over rough tracks up to the the highest point of of the the GR20 over over 9km with with an an an ascent of of of 1230m and descent of of 1250m with with an an an an option to to summit Monte Cinto the the highest mountain on on on the the island at 2706m A few members of our group decided to take on on this challenge upholding the Pegasus Ethos of determination endurance and selfless- ness The other group began their descent down the the the the mountain over challenging terrain in in in in in which our group sustained their first casualty with a a a a a a a a a a a a fractured wrist from a a a a a a a a a a a a fall leading to to a a a a a a a a a a a a helicop- ter evacuation by the the mountain rescue due to to to the the route having more chains to to climb down expedition on on such a a a a a a a a a a a a spectacular island and and embracing the culture at each refuge With the sun still shining this allowed for us to wild swim again in in in the the mountains as a a a a respite from the the heat The GR20 was unquestionably a a a a a a challenging route overall allowing us to work on our our leadership skills by planning our our our route each day and briefing the team We showed our our our mental resilience courage and loy- alty to one another supporting each other other when days were long and tough However we we we felt very fortu- nate to to to be able to to to participate in this SANDHURST
