Councillor elections
Thinking of trying something new in 2025?
Why not join Thrapston Town Council and
have your say on community issues whilst
representing the wonderful local residents?
You only need to spare a few hours each
month.
If more than 13 people nominate themselves
for election, it will become contested, meaning
that Thrapston residents (on the electoral
register) will be able to head to the polls on
Thursday 1st May 2025 to vote for their local
councillor representatives.
This means that YOU get to choose who
represents you!
Who are Thrapston Town Council?
In a nutshell, Thrapston Town Council is
responsible for the cemetery, the Plaza, several
open spaces including the Peace
Park, play areas, some street lighting,
the public toilets, some street
furniture (benches, bins) and the
majority of verge cutting. It is also
consulted on local planning matters.
Grants are given by Thrapston Town
Council to deserving local causes.
Thrapston Town Council
organises events for the town, bringing people
together to enhance Thrapston’s fantastic spirit.
It also promotes local businesses and proactively
promotes ‘support local’.
What is the actual commitment?
Your attendance at ONE Full Town Council
meeting and ONE committee meeting per
month is all that is required. These take place on
Tuesday evenings from 7.15pm.
You will also be required to help
at some of the council-organised
events that run throughout the year,
which includes fundraising events
in the Plaza, Party in the Park,
Fireworks and the annual Christmas
Festival.
Deadline for submitting your
application is Wednesday 2nd April 2025.
Forms can be collected from the Thrapston
Town Council office or by scanning the QR
code.
