REGIMENTAL JOURNAL OF THE ROYAL LANCERS (QUEEN ELIZABETHS’ OWN) 103
Field of Remembrance – Regimental plot
Field of Remembrance – Westminster Abbey
The Regiment had its usual spot at Westminster Abbey, where the plaques and names of all the antecedent Lancers who had fallen since World War One were commemorated. This year the Colonel of the Regiment was represented by Major General Short CB, OBE. HRH Prince Henry of Wales opened the Field of Remembrance. The significance of this year’s parade that the two minutes silence was signalled by the chimes of Big Ben.
This was one of the three only times it was going to chime in 2018. After the parade, we all retired to the Civil Service Club for a steak and kidney pudding lunch’ although as usual the club does not quite understand the principle of a ‘lunch portion.’ For many who attended, they were all to be in London later in the week at the cenotaph.
