An early morning flight the next day got us to the bustling port of
Letitica, a border town
on the northern bank
itself as we made our way down to the port. The hullabaloo upon our arrival resembled the opening scenes of a James Bond film. Sadly there was no 007 in an action packed chase scene, but it was just as interesting
of the Amazon River
at the junction of Brazil
and Peru. The humidity
as we stepped out
of the plane felt like
walking into a sauna.
As I collected my
luggage drenched
head to toe in my own
sweat, I was very kindly reminded that the further we moved into the jungle the more humid it would become.
We were up early the next morning to catch our first glimpse of the Amazon River

watching the ensuing chaos of loading three weeks’ worth of stores onto our boats. We had plenty of time to admire
the madness as insufficient fuel had been collected for the journey. We quickly learnt to adapt to what the locals
