like jelly. I had never been so nervous on the ice! My Blues effort went ok- a couple of wobbles- but I survived and came first place in both, making me a British Champion, what a great feeling!
My confidence was lifted going into the Freedance event and I was so excited- this was my favourite event and gave me the chance to be more expressive and dramatic- I really loved that piece of music. I skated cleanly with no falls and was pleased with my performance. I was disappointed to finish in second place and it transpired I had huge deductions for a couple of my elements: I hadn’t held my poses for long enough. My hydroglide (one-footed glide close to the ice) was meant to be 4-7 seconds long and I was recorded at finishing at 3.96 seconds. That 0.04 seconds shortfall cost me dearly but I will never make that mistake again!
Since the British Adult Championships finished in April I have been back on the ice preparing for next year and look forward to competing again. I am
loving skating again and hope I can continue to train and compete for a few years to come. The feeling of tearing around the ice fast with cold air in your face is quite unbeatable and I confess
I am completely addicted.
I have been honoured
to be asked to coach the
Royal Engineers Ice Hockey
team and enjoyed teaching
their players the basics
of quality ice skating. The
standard of skating is variable
but their willingness to embrace figure skating technique is wonderful to see. I would recommend figure skating to anyone. Most ice rinks have Adult learn to skate programmes and if you are ever at my local rink give me a shout and I will get you gliding around in no time!

On Sun 8 Oct 17, myself and Sgt Sharon Gotora completed the Royal Parks
Half Marathon (13.1 miles) wearing
full kit loaded with a 15kg Bergen. We managed to raise, so far, £304.50 for a truly worthwhile cause “The Royal British Legion”. I am not going to lie that at the 11 mile point I have never felt pain like it in my legs, it was a challenge for both me and Sgt Gotora but we managed to keep

one another going throughout, and the other people completing the event gave us fantastic support as well as the supporting public. We heard all sorts of praise/kind words as well as “You two are Nutters”, “rather you than me” and “you two are crazy”!
We would like to thank everyone for their support and kind donations, we both really appreciate it.
