season and the far reaching landscapes of rolling hills, all the way to the smallest little ladybird.
I am also inspired by childhood memories of growing up and playing with my brothers and sister on the family farm. The farm was always such a sensory palette filled with animals, people and nature all combined.
What’s your studio like? I have promoted my working area from my kitchen table to a very untidy corner of my daughters playroom. My creativity comes with an avalanche of mess.
Who works with you, or do you go it alone?
I am a true introvert and I really enjoy working alone. Occasionally I run ideas past my family. What is the best thing about your job? It
brings me an immense amount of happiness and satisfaction. I am doing something every day which I enjoy. I have two small dogs (Lucy and Bertie) who sit by my feet (snoring). I look out onto a field of horses as I draw and paint and I feel incredibly lucky every day for that. As a single parent, it is hard to find work that
fits around school, and illustrating is the perfect solution. I am often replying to emails at 6am, but it works for us.
What makes Denford such a perfect place?
I have lived in Denford for three years and I am surprised every day at the amount of wildlife
I see when walking my dogs. Almost all of
the animals I see, I illustrate. They all become characters in my illustrations and paintings.
Do you sell through galleries? No, but I do have a website, from which I sell framed original artwork, fine art prints and cards.
What’s you favourite piece? A tricky question, as I fall in love with all of the sweet little animals I draw. I really do love an illustration I created last year named “Feast Your Eyes”. It features one of my favourite dog breeds (a Jack Russell) and his mousey friend, looking longingly at a delicious turkey on the Christmas table. This illustration will be available to buy on my website this Christmas.
