CHESTERFIELD BRANCH
It’s been another busy year for Chesterfield branch, being involved with community events as well as supporting its members. In April, the branch attended the grave of Martin Robinson to pay our respects, along with
his family and the
RBL, to our fallen
comrade. In June, we
attended a Drumhead
Service in front of the
Town Hall. In August,
we enjoyed a branch
trip to York and
then in September
it was our 12th Annual Alma Dinner. On Remembrance Sunday we laid a wreath at the Town Hall, and on Armistice Day we
held our own Service of Remembrance at the Crich Memorial Tower, where we were joined by local school children singing on the hillside. This year also saw our eldest member, Jack Parrott, enjoy
being surprised by Alan Titchmarsh and the Love Your Garden TV show. Jack, who was awarded the Legion d’Honneur
in 2018 received a well-deserved garden makeover and Alan and his team also
planted a tree of remembrance for Jack and all of his friends involved in the D-Day Landings, in the local park.
