  Mortar Platoon
CSgt Harrison
A successful year for 4 MERCIAN’s Mortar Pl has seen two of our soldiers deploy
on Op CABRIT with 1 MERCIAN and
then extend their FTRS commitment for a further two years. We wish Pte Ramagotsi and Pte Foreshaw all the best and look forward to their return in the future.
 The Mortar Pl conducted a
mortar numbers cadre as part of
Ex WARHAMMER in Mar 19 and will repeat this in Mar 20. This excellent training is the culmination of our training year and allows us to conduct live firing to a high standard integrated with our regular counterparts
and ensuring that
we are qualified,
deployable
mortarmen at
readiness. This
hugely popular
training and the
build up to getting
to standard are the
driving force behind
the morale of the Mortar Pl.
We again hosted the annual MRA
MRA Dinner
dinner in Stockport and this was a great success as well as the B Coy Meeanee
 Day celebrations.
Not just the best at hosting Regimental occasions, Mortar Pl have also reinvigorated recruitment and we are now growing steadily with potential new mortarmen joining us almost every week. The dedication of CSgt
Keeble and the dynamic Sgt Dickinson continue to lead the way.

Recruiting within the Widnes and North West County areas has always been supported by the local public. B Company has returned to the “Heartlands” and believe that gatekeeper and influencer activity is
key to the growth of B Company. We pride ourselves on being heavily community focused, which to this day has continued to pay dividends to the growth of B Company.
CSgt Andy Powell, based out of Ellesmere Port, has continued to nurture and develop our platoon location, and
is now a well-respected and recognised member of 4 MERCIAN. He has continued to build links with the local community and dispelled the Army myths within the student community of Chester University, attending the Fresher’s Week and other large sporting events.
Mortar Platoon’s success and have spent considerable time engaging with the local community and cadet forces to inspire the next generation of Mercian Warriors.
 Our Stockport Mortar Platoon continues
to be a beacon of professionalism within the AR as one of the only AR Mortar Platoons to be competent
Recruiting will always be a contentious subject at times
Recruiting will always be a contentious subject at times, however B Company will continue to strive for success, engaging across a broad spectrum of society
and ready to fire as a complete Mortar Detachment. CSgt Paul Keeble and Sgt Dave Dickenson have reinforced the
ensuring that we achieve the second and third order effects to grow and sustain
B Company for future generations.
