Thrapston time capsule
Their 60th Anniversary sees Barratt Homes wanting help from you to put together a Thrapston time capsule that they can bury
Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Barratt Developments, a time capsule is planned to be buried at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire’s development Charter’s Gate and the local housebuilder wants an input from the Thrapston community.
Whilst observing a major milestone in its lifetime, Barratt Homes is taking this opportunity to involve local residents in celebrating the town of Thrapston.
The community surrounding the developer’s Huntingdon Road development is being encouraged to contribute to the time capsule, providing unique possessions to leave precious memories in the ground for decades to come.
Items collected should represent Thrapston’s heritage or form part of a current trend that will be an interesting discovery for
those unveiling the time capsule 40 years from now, as part of Barratt Developments’ 100th anniversary.
Barratt Homes will be holding a collection at Charter’s Gate for those wishing to contribute to this exciting community activity.
Suggested memorabilia for the time capsule include a dated newspaper, photographs of Thrapston and any quirky toys that may not be around in a few years’ time, giving children an opportunity to donate to the cause.
The time capsule will have strict instructions not to be opened until 2059 where future residents will find an interesting link to Thrapston’s past.
Charter’s Gate is an exciting new development of three, four and five bedroom homes, perfect for first time buyers, a growing family or those looking to downsize.
Anyone interested in contributing to the time capsule burial is urged to visit the sales centre with their chosen item, open Monday 12.30pm to 5.30pm and Thursday to Sunday 10am to 5.30pm.

HOPE in Thrapston
Ten years ago a group of Christians from all the churches in Thrapston joined together to organise events to serve
the community. This was to be part of
a countrywide, year long venture called HOPE 08.
There was pancake racing, parties, a picnic on Lazy Acre, Praise in the Peace Park, Prayer weeks, a Nativity, Christmas hats and hot chocolate and much more!
The following year we carried on and on and on! Now calling ourselves HOPE in Thrapston.
In September four of the original team decided to officially disband HOPE in Thrapston. We would like to give a huge thank you to all those who have helped or benefitted from our efforts and we wish you all the joy and blessings of the Christmas season.
Jean Fouhy on behalf of all the team.
