Regimental Engagement Team
The Regimental Engagement Team was formed in June 2021 with the help from the Commanding Officer Colonel Hugo Lloyd, his volunteers, and a huge input from Capt Daniel Brown. Every step was meticulously scrutinised to achieve the best. From marketing to branding and personalisation everything was cross-ref- erenced before we went live for us to achieve our very best outcomes.
Getting the RET out of RBSM was the hardest task, Capt Brown has very high standards he expects nothing more than perfection, even down to the most minis- cule of detail. For example, cutting the grass outside the QM’s to have the final display on show for the CO’s inspection, making sure the photos were the best quality, everything had to be done and finished to the highest of standards which I believe has made every bit of a differ- ence with how we present to the public.
Being permanently based in South Wales has had its perks with Amey coming around my home cutting the grass weekly and changing my light bulbs – ‘Win Win’.
On a serious note the RET, Farrier Major and LCpl Jones have hit the ground running, engaging with future dragoons, cadets and colleges, thus having a powerful impact on our footprint in Wales.
Our main effort since leaving RBSM has been putting QDG proudly back on the map in Wales and our border counties where we rightly belong. This has been no easy task, however our enthusiastic and dexterous engagement team have only grown in perseverance.
To date we have done over 30 engagement tasks in Wales and its
border counties. From working with colleges, providing informative briefs with the military preparation colleges, and as varied as family days in Builth Wells. We look to expand and continue our vigorous search for new dragoons to strengthen the connection to our Welsh origins within QDG.
Our most recent activity planned by the RSM was a massive undertaking. With the support from 10 soldiers from B Sqn we helped the RBL
with selling poppies in over
34 different locations around
Wales for 14 days. We
visited and collected from
town centres, highstreets, supermarkets and various
other locations. I am proud
to say that as a Regiment we
managed to collect and raise
an impressive £15,340.89,
which is a massive achieve-
ment and one we wouldn’t have been able to achieve without the phenomenal support from B Sqn.
Lastly, the recent great news of the Regiment finally moving to Wales will have a huge impact on recruitment. Recently the RET delivered a presentation in the Cardiff Army careers office with 5 poten- tial dragoon’s in the recruitment process, all of whom stated they would like to join us due to the location move. This is only
going to go from strength to strength as the date gets closer to 2027.
