STYLE IT OUT
Sarah Murray, owner of Edinburgh boutique Jane Davidson, gives us her fashion forecast for the year ahead
The nineties are the decade for inspiration this spring/summer. Last summer was all about the boho floral maxi and this summer will definitely be more body-conscious. Think slip dresses, sheer and even the return of the mini skirt.
Turn to colour to make that transition from winter into spring. There’s loads to choose from – from colour blocking to bold neons. It’s been a dark winter and colour is the easiest way to lighten up.
I’m a great believer in buying less and holding out for those special pieces you can’t live without. Slow fashion endures. The start of the year is a good time to have a wardrobe clear-out. Really, we should be shopping from our own wardrobes and only adding pieces we truly fall in love with.
There are a few designers I’m particularly excited about at the moment. The Vampire’s Wife is a really cool British brand whose dresses are timeless, iconic and worn by royalty and celebrities. Greek Archaic Kori is my new brand for the summer, with styles that are perfect for chic holiday dressing.
