Knowing what I wanted to do from the age of ten that horticulture was for me, most of my life has been taken up by Horticulture in business and in pleasure. The family thought that they would buy me a number plate for my new car NBII VEG, this was for my 60th birthday, so I hope you like the poem entitled...
Veggie Registration
Looking from my window I was shocked to see the Registration Boots and jacket on no hesitation
Well, the thought of number plate NBII VEG has arrived
This was a real surprise.
Feeling proud to be a member of National Vegetable Society I’ve got a talking point, plenty of variety
Veggie Registration, to prove how passionate I am
Growing for show, or the family clan.
So, if you have a special celebration
A number plate Veg what a great occasion
I am proud to be an ambassador for Great British Veg Maybe you’re in-line for a number plate next.
This is the time of year when we look back and study what has done well or not so we’ll in our gardens and to celebrate this poem is entitled successful.
I had a great potato crop yield quiet heavy
Picking of beans have been steady
My carrots did nothing because I did not put them in That reminds me to start another compost bin.
Garlic so tall, elephant high
Sweet corn long they could touch the sky French beans tasty, Cobra delight
I love catching slugs and snails at night.
Coriander for cutting, veg curry a favourite Mixing all ingredients fresh and all tight Flavour and fibre, off cuts taste and fun Made in a cooking pot, enough for everyone.
Onions, shallots, pickled or cooked
I shall have to get out my old cook book Using for now or storing some for later
Small ones for pickling, large ones for bakers.
Whatever you grow, just do your best
You don’t have to take it to show, just keep out the pests Well-being for us gardeners can be measured in pleasure We get growing vegetables for show or for leisure.
