RAYMOND HIGGINS FNVS, NVS IRELAND CHAIR
At the time of writing (26th July) we
are enjoying exhibiting our fruit and vegetables and meeting up with
friends at the various shows around the country. It has been a very challenging season with very cold and wet weather sandwiched between a heatwave. I must say the standard on the show bench at the early shows has been top quality so congratulations to all our members for their dedication.
A very warm welcome to our new members, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, as we
are always happy to help. At the time of writing, we are looking forward to our AGM at Tullamore Show on August 13th and it will be our great honour and we are very excited to stage the inaugural Irish NVS Championships on Sunday 27th August at Moate Show. We will provide a report in the next edition of simply vegetables.
Our next meet and greet is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday October 7th in Moore Hall, South Roscommon, N37 HT68. All members are welcome to attend, and refreshments will be served. Please bring
any spare vegetables from your garden and members will be on hand to demonstrate how they can be prepared for exhibition. We will also setup a mini show with a judging demonstration. It will also be
an opportunity to provide feedback to the team as we review the activities of the society in 2023 and make plans for 2024. On the day we will have a raffle so any donations of prizes will be warmly welcomed.
