   Chairman’s Report
I had great pleasure in attending two Sea Cadet events in July. The first being the awarding of berets to our very own Thrapston Sea Cadet group. I am told this is the first time we have had a Thrapston based Sea Cadet group. The second event was a regional Sea Cadet rowing regatta, where over 400 cadets
came from as far as Scarborough to Essex. The Thrapston Sea Cadet Centre provides residential courses and training for the East of England.
The Mayoral Charity
this year is Mind. We plan to raise awareness of the services Mind provide and are also seeking a permanent place in Thrapston for residents to access
their services. We all know there is a desperate need for mental health support and provision in all our communities.
In support of this Charity I will be hosting
Why not cycle into town?
Cycling is a truly invigorating and liberating experience, enjoyed by people of all ages and from all walks of life. Whether you’re cycling to work, to school, to the shops or just for fun, the humble bicycle is an easy way to get more active. Regular cycling can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke. It can also boost your mood
a ‘Sponsored Silence’ in Thrapston High Street (outside the library) on Saturday 21st September. It will commence at sunrise 06:46 and end at sunset 19:04. Very often depression, anxiety and other mental conditions are suffered in silence
– people are too afraid
or scared to talk. This Sponsored Silence is being held to highlight the need for mental health support.
If you either wish to sponsor this event or participate in the silence yourself, please call into Thrapston Town Council Office or telephone on
01832 734673.
We as a Council are very keen to
financially support our local voluntary groups. If you are in need of financial support, please either download the forms from our website or call into Thrapston Council Offices for further information.
and keep your weight under control.
We want to encourage our community to
live a healthier lifestyle but understand you need to have somewhere to lock up your bike. We are having a cycle rack installed in the quadrant next to the Town Council Office and a further set in the disused bus shelter next to the library. So keep a look out for the new cycle racks & get cycling!
