More recently Tasty Bite Victorian Tea Shop opened in the High Street, taking over the Goss Bros shop. Their promotional leaflet is shown and even today, the brown direction sign can be seen at the Huntingdon Road roundabout. The café is now Bennett’s and remains very popular.
Time and space preclude mention apart by name of other establishments in town – I’m sure people will have their own memories of some and if so, I would be pleased to hear them. Much of this article has drawn on an article about the old High and Bridge Street shops as remembered by Gordon Borrett published in the 2010 issue of Strapetona, the Local History Society’s magazine.
Although this publication is renamed Thrapston Life, I intend to continue to occasionally look beyond the town into local villages and remain open to suggestions for topics, my contact point being:
