dogs with the right home. For example, some of our dogs won’t like other dogs and this means that we can’t rehome to some families or if you have decided that a small breed isn’t for you and you would prefer a German of Belgian Shepherd then we wouldn’t match you with a Cocker Spaniel!
When we find a suitable home, potential families are invited to visit us so that they can meet for the first time. This involves a short visit including a meet and greet, a walk with one of our staff followed by a chat about the rehome. If the family are still happy then more visits are arranged for longer walks.
When everyone is agreed, we fill out some quick paperwork, then we can let our MWD become an Ex-MWD and they can enjoy a well-deserved retirement!
Retired MWDs can make great pets. If you think you could rehome one of our dogs, then please come and speak to one of the MARC staff. Larger breeds or older dogs are always more difficult to find homes for, so if you think you could care for one of the “Old and Bold” then please come and find us up near the Veterinary Training Squadron.
If you want to call us, you can do so on 01664 418668.
