Colonel Larry Davis ACF
Rifleman appointed as Colonel Cadets, HQ London District
Larry Davis (55) joined G Coy 4(V) RGJ in West Ham London as a recruit in February 1987. Promoted to Sjt in 1989, to CSjt in 1997 and WO2 in 1999. He served on operational tours in Kosovo and Iraq for which he received a CBF Commendation in Kosovo and CMND Commendation in Iraq.
On his return from Iraq, he joined the Joint CIMIC Group – assisting with civil assistance in countries such as Belize, Ghana, Uganda and the UK. On commissioning in Feb 2006, a number of Regimental, E and Staff appoint- ments followed culminating in promotion to Maj in July 2011 and subsequent appointment as OC G Coy 7 RIFLES the Coy he joined as a Rfn 24 years previously.
On completion of his Coy Comd tour two Staff appointments in LONDIST followed and in Dec 2016 he was appointed as the Cadet Commandant for City of London and North - East Sector in the rank of Lt Col for an initial
three-year period. In December 2019 he was given an extension of two years and promoted to the rank of full Colonel in the ACF.
On the 26 May 2021 Colonel Davis was appointed as Colonel Cadets, HQ London District with effect from 1 October 2021 with responsibility for 4 Army Cadet Force Sectors and 50 Combined Cadet Force Contingents across the London District area of responsi- bility. With oversight of 9,000 cadets from both ACF and CCF as well as 700 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
Colonel Larry is to be congratulated on his new appointment and at the same thanked for the nearly 30 years of loyal service he has given to the TA, Reserves and latterly the Army Cadet Force in Greater London.
In his civilian capacity Larry is a Deputy Headteacher (Secondary) at an Academy in South West London.
