  open, the final parts of the old buildings being demolished in 2001. The only site security for some years was a rudimentary fence, shown below left. Finally, by 2007 construction was well under way, the current road entrance being built then.
There is now a footpath beside the river leading to a weir (the Low Shot) with views of Islip Mill. Often, a heron can be seen standing by the weir fishing, occasionally joined by a little egret.
A number of very detailed models of old Thrapston are held by Thrapston District
Historical Society, including one showing the wharf. These are occasionally displayed at our exhibitions.
