open to the public, there are public footpaths through the estate which afford excellent views of the exterior. There is a circular walk of some 61⁄2 miles which
can be found online, starting
in Lowick and looping back via Slipton and Sudborough.
Drayton remains a working
estate with farming, composting
and property rentals, as well as
retaining ownership of the garage
in Islip. Home Farm is shown on a postcard dated 1914, as is a view of the front of the house with cattle grazing in the 1950’s.
From May this year, Thrapston Library have offered the Historical Society space in their recently built extension for local history displays. A part of this will be the “A Glance at
the Past” area containing the current issue along with my article from five years ago. With a little more space, I hope to be producing enhanced versions with larger pictures.
