                                WHAT’S ON
In and Around Thrapston
  Ladies Club
Thrapston Ladies Club meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Thrapston Baptist Chapel, St Pauls Gardens, 7.30pm.
We are an informal, friendly, group
of ladies and would welcome any new members. We have a variety of speakers throughout the year and also arrange
trips out. The first initial visit is £3 and thereafter a joining fee of £30 per year, pro rata. Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided. Our speaker in February is giving us a talk on the history of Delapre Abbey.
 Volunteer Action
Volunteer Action runs a Befriending Service which supports individuals who are isolated and struggling with feelings of loneliness. The charity supports people of state pension age or those with disabilities or life-limiting illnesses who live in Thrapston and its villages.
Do you know someone who is isolated and could benefit from some extra company?
Could you be a Volunteer Befriender and help those who are lonely?
Please call VA 01832 275433 or visit https:// www.volunteeractionoundle.org.uk/ for more information. You could also send an email to befriending@volunteeractionoundle.org.uk
Monthly social events also take place, these are for members of the VA Befriending Scheme or the VA Transport Scheme. However, you
can just join the Befriending Scheme as a
‘group event’ member. A variety of different activities are arranged for the second Monday
of each month and are always accompanied by refreshments. Attendance is free. Please call
the number above to find out more about these events or to register. The first event in Thrapston is on 10th February at 10.30am in the Café Room in the Baptist Church.
Thrapston Plaza Opera
Never seen an opera? Come and see ‘La Bohème’ in the Plaza – you’ll be amazed!
Rehearsals are in full swing for one of Puccini’s most popular, truly romantic fully staged operas, with well loved arias performed in English with orchestral accompaniment by our very own 25 strong amateur Opera Company.
Whilst most of the chorus are from Thrapston and surrounding villages, some soloists with principal roles come from further afield. In fact, this year we have gained sponsorship to book a professional lead tenor from London.
‘La Bohème’ 20th, 21st, 22nd February
The Thrapston Plaza, Cosy Nook, NN14 4PS Tickets: £20 adult, £5 child available online. Visit: ticketsource.co.uk and search Thrapston
Plaza Opera. For further details see website: thrapstonplazaopera.com

2025 is well underway and we are looking forward to a busy WI year.
Our February
meeting involved Dr Busker and an evening of musical entertainment. March brings our Annual Meeting with a swap table and time to socialise.
Looking ahead, we have, amongst other things, craft events, ju jitsu suffragettes and a talk about women’s health.
We are arranging trips and outings and are looking forward to being involved in the many community events. At the time of writing, we are preparing our team for the town quiz! We also attend events organised by Northamptonshire Federation.
Visitors are always welcome. 7 30pm, Thrapston Baptist Church on the 1st Thursday of the month.
