PARK LIFE
a new lease of life
Our volunteer team has bloomed! We have welcomed several new volunteers to the team in the past couple of months, and we hope they enjoy helping us to keep the park looking at
its best.
The fence around Kingfisher Hide has been renewed using willow and dogwood from site. Coppicing dogwood and willow allow it to regrow and having a diverse age range of trees and shrubs is really good for wildlife.
It is great that we can reuse the materials in the park, whether for weaving panels, dead- hedging, or den building materials. Some of the surplus sticks are available to gardeners for using as pea sticks and bean poles. These can be found behind the Visitor Centre and are free for you to collect, although if you would like to make a donation to the park that would be very much appreciated.
Regular visitors may have noticed the wooden gazebo between Middle Lake and North Lake has received some TLC recently. Some of our Casual Rangers have worked hard to retain the original structure which had suffered some
subsidence over the years. The roof panels were completely rotten and have been replaced,
but we hope its new lease of life will see it last another twenty years!
Looking for an excuse to get out?
There is always plenty to do in the park, with activities for both children and adults, many run by our Active Parks team.
