Turn back time with Thrapston Dreamers in their new show
If you think this year is going quickly, just wait until you travel through time with Thrapston Dreamers at their next production. The years will fly by as the young cast of ‘Time Traveller’ turn back the clock at the Plaza on 19th and 20th July (both at 7pm).
Tickets (£6 each) are now on sale for the show, which will see about 45 children take to the stage and work behind the scenes. The production, which is sponsored by
AC Binns Specialist Transport Services, follows on from the success of the group’s ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ earlier this year. Song, dance and acting will be combined in the show, which will tell the story of a time traveller who visits a series of famous characters from historical eras.
Months of rehearsals are now drawing to a close, said producer Lindsay Latimer. “We have among the Dreamers some fantastic singers, dancers and actors, all supported by a super backstage team, who can’t
wait to present the results of all their hard work to their audiences. It’s been a busy few weeks for many of our Dreamers, with performances also during the Arts Festival and the Charter Fair, but the perseverance and determination to put on a great show has been lovely to see. They will do us all proud.”
Check the group’s Facebook page for more information about buying tickets for the performances of ‘Time Traveller’.
Get on your bike and help Northamptonshire Historic Churches
The next Sponsored Bike Ride/Walk takes place on Saturday 14th September 2019. This annual event is an excellent way of raising funds for your own Church as well as the Trust, as 50% of the money that you raise is returned to the church of your choice. In addition, there is the opportunity to visit and admire some of the wonderful Christian buildings in the County.
People of any age can take part as you can choose your own route, according to how many Churches you wish to visit on the day. Most of the Churches in the County will be open from 10am-6pm, although there are some that have to close earlier.
Here at St. James’ Thrapston we have supported the Trust for many years and
in the last two years we have raised more than £1000 towards the replacement vestry roof. (The Trust have in return supported St James with a grant towards the cost of a roof alarm.)
Many of our congregation take part by obtaining sponsorship for each Church they visit, others by manning the Church to greet the riders and offering refreshments.
Would you like to help us raise even more this year? We are looking for cyclist and walkers who are prepared to find their own sponsors and also anyone who would like to sponsor a rider/walker.
