course, the team were awarded ‘Major Unit Male Winners’ and ‘Female Unit Runners-up.’ But it doesn’t stop there, on successfully competing and doing extremely well throughout the league the male and female team then went onto win the UK South Cross- Country Championship.

Covid put a halt on RMAS Intermediate Term AT Expeditions from Apr 20 to Aug 21. However, In Dec 21, AT Expeditions took place within the UK. There are approx. 33 Expeditions that depart the RMAS at the end of each term and albeit this time they were not undertaken in more exotic climates they were all just as testing as the next, boasting leadership, courage, self-confidence and resilience. During the same period, Junior Term AT courses were undertaken at JSAT Centres when Covid lockdown restrictions allowed. Apr 22 will be the first time both RMAS AT Expeditions and courses will have taken place since Dec 19. A Circa 400 OCdts will undertake AT during this period.
The Field Marshal Alexander Gymnasium is one of the newest additions to the RMAS infrastructure on site to deliver PT to the wider Academy. The facility creates an open uncluttered training space allowing the PT staff to control the training environment effectively and safely and up to two Platoon strength can train at once.
Life at the RMAS is not only about delivering PT, organising sport competitions, or supporting Adventurous Training, but the opportunity to get involved with other activities and events that you won’t get anywhere in the Field Army. As an RAPTCI we never shy away from such opportunities, and in May 21, the PT Wing participated in the RMAS Inter Company Pace Sticking Competition.
The event took place on the parade square in front of the iconic white steps and hallows of Old College. Each of the teams consisted of four members, one driver who delivered the words of command and three team members. Over the course, the teams marched in slow and quick time whilst alternating turning the stick with the left or right hand. The objective of the pace stick drill was to provide uniformity in the use of a stick and a high standard of steadiness and cohesion amongst the instructors. The team that comprised of SSgt (SSI) Felix, Sgt (SI) Kemp, Sgt (SI) Stevens and Sgt (SI) Quinn was seen delivering an outstanding performance in front of the entire Academy staff.
Unless you have lived the Sandhurst experience, one cannot truly say they’ve been posted at the RMAS.
