like a duck to water, literally, as one of my colleagues managed to knock me into the water.
Whilst keeping on the theme of teambuilding one of my colleagues approached me for some advice on activities we could do to get the HQ together, as those people that were back in the office may not have met their colleagues from other departments due to the COVID working environment. We managed to pull together a multi-activity AT package in Castlemartin. However, as soon as you mention AT in Castlemartin you can imagine people’s faces. This was like pulling teeth trying to get people to volunteer for one of the 30 places we had secured and all we had to do was turn-up. Even I was apprehensive from my experiences as a young Infantry Soldier spending time in Castlemartin. That aside, with a lot of

hard work and the AT nearly being cancelled due to numbers, we manged to get six volunteers to attend. I can honestly say it was one of the best weeks I have had due to the weather, accommodation, relaxed environment, the staff, and the people in our group.
Back in the office and with many changes due to the IR and formation of the Rangers it was back to normal routine of collating info and stats for the Divisional People’s Board, with one of the main themes being the ‘lived experience.’ Being able to attend and present stats on this was a great chance to see what is going on within the Bde’s and at Unit level during these uncertain times. Formation of the Rangers Bns allowed the SO2 PD Maj (MAA) Reese and I to get out of the office to visit the four Ranger Bns prior to their formation on 1 Dec 2021. This and further visits helped form an understanding of the PD issues within the Division that arise due to the various battle rhythms.
In the new year of 2022, I had the honour and the privilege to be selected as DS for the RAPTC Selection, this was a fantastic experience to see first-hand the talent that we have aspiring to join the RAPTC. As an RAPTCI this is one appointment that I had always wanted to do if I made the rank of WO1. My post at HQ 6th (UK) Division couldn’t have come at a better time for me as it has allowed me to settle my family in the Midlands and use the hybrid working to create my own networks closer to home. This allowed me to liaise with my local Army Reserve (AR) Centre and assist them with their own PD on a recent MATTs concentration to allow the reservists to claim their un-taxed commitment bonus. This time spent working with the AR has opened another door for me when I finally finish my time in the Army in 2023.
