CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
As I write this report restrictions are
being lifted on mask wearing, hospitality and travel, another step forward for local businesses and clubs who will be hoping to welcome you back. The Town Guide has a comprehensive directory of clubs, groups and leisure activities you can access in town.
One such group is Thrapston WI who meet at the Baptist Church on the 1st Thursday of the month. I was welcomed
by President Julie Catling and members
to speak about my role as Mayor and Chairman. The WI offers a great range of benefits, inspiring and empowering women, friendship and events. For renewal and new members who wish to apply contact is via email ThrapstonWi.contactus@gmail.com
Volunteer Action is a local charity supporting the elderly, unwell, disadvantaged and those with disabilities. By providing services to these valuable members of the Community VA aim to maintain independence and improve the quality of their lives. They are currently recruiting drivers for people with no reasonable means of transport for appointments, collecting prescriptions, visiting friends and relatives and more.
A mileage allowance per mile is paid. If you can help, contact 01832 275433

A Quiz and Chips
fundraising evening in
the Plaza on Saturday
22nd January saw a
selection of 10 teams
enjoy a great evening led by Quiz maker and master, Councillor Alan Winter. Ben’s Chippy provided us with excellent food and I would like to say thank you to Terry Tibbs for 32 years of serving our town, you will be missed. Proceeds from the ticket sales, raffle and bar raised in excess of £800 for my chosen charity NDAS, thank you those who attended and to the staff, Councillors, family and friends who helped to make it a success.
My parents originated from the beautiful west coast of Ireland and with them in mind I am hosting an Irish band night featuring The Gypsy Rogues on Saturday 19th March. Ticket price also includes a 3 course dinner, disco and dancing. Join us for the craic and what promises to be a great evening and fundraiser for my charity NDAS. Please contact the Town Council office for ticket availability and information.
Kind regards
Councillor Val Carter
