In the summer we often visit a garden that we have featured in one of our talks from earlier
in the year. We plan to visit Burghley Park later this year to see the work they have done to restore the walled garden.
We hold our Village Garden and Crafts Show in late July. This is an opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their skills and create a wonderful display in the Village Hall. It’s a great
social occasion with the chance to win
prizes, including nearly 20 cups and
trophies. There are over 130 classes
within the categories of gardens, plants
and cut flowers, vegetables, fruit, flower arranging, cookery and crafts.
There are specific classes for children
too including making an animal out
of vegetables, model making, drawing and cookery. Typically, we have around 500 exhibits from 150 exhibitors which includes many children from Warmington School. It’s a fun and friendly show and we’re keen to help new exhibitors.
Our last event of the year typically takes place in late November and tends to be more of a practical event. We have had flower arranging demonstrations and several tasting events, including wine, port, gin, beer and cider tasting which all proved to be very popular indeed.
