Who works with you, or do you go it alone?
I normally work alone with occasional heavy duty help from my son Fin, who is also making sculptures and other things in his spare time.
What is the best thing about your job? Best thing about my work life is waking up
around the reserve walking and doing green maintenance.
The main reason for staying here and loving it, is the isolation which enables Wanna and
I to pretty much get on with life without
in the morning and planning the day and then hitting it with enthusiasm. I tend to be single minded and once on a project, it becomes my main purpose till it’s finished.
Come to think of it, I really do like my chest of woodcarving tools
interference from neighbours. Our three children were all born in
our bedroom here and we see our grandchildren here regularly (I’ve built a fairly extensive playground in our paddock as an incentive to see them often).
When is your gallery open? It will be open to the public on the last weekend in June and first two weekends in July
What makes being on Polebrook
Airfield so perfect? Having lived on
the airfield for 45 years or so and seeing
it evolve into a mature nature reserve
has been marvellous, and especially since Fin and ourselves were fortunate in managing to purchase about 100 acres a few years ago. So apart from being in my workshop (a wartime generator shed) I am often to be found
as part of Peterborough Artists Open Studios. What’s you favourite piece of work? A
question I’m frequently asked, and the answer is generally “the latest one!”.
