GET WALKING
Rambling on...
It is widely considered that getting outdoors and going for a walk, whatever the season, is a great way to boost your health and happiness.
Taking part in a group walk with a trained leader offers the additional benefits of socialising while not having to plan a route nor running the risk of getting lost! There are any number of walking groups in the area, from small informal groups to planned programmes.
Ramblers is a national organisation with organised walking groups across the country. Becoming a member does not restrict you to staying with your local group. In fact, it gives you the freedom to participate in a walk with any Ramblers (or affiliated) group.
And, as it turns out, you don’t have to go far to walk with a neighbouring group. I am a member of Huntingdonshire Ramblers but we
do not consider county borders to be a barrier to having a great day out. We can often be found in and around north Northamptonshire. Our 2022 programme included starts from Lowick, Keyston, Polebrook, Warmington and Catworth. I also led a circular walk last year from Oundle via Cotterstock and Ashton.
New walkers are welcome to go along and try one or two of the walks for free before taking out Ramblers’ membership.
