FROM THE
WHEELHOUSE
It is early morning on Saturday 4th July, this would have been the day of our big summer party at Gins, instead today hospitality re-opens for the first time in over 100 days.
I am reflecting on what has been an extremely challenging time for so many and yet your Club has weathered this storm and emerged stronger than ever. We should all feel extremely proud of who and what we are, from the support of those that visited Gins for takeaways through lockdown, through to the determination of the race management team leading the charge on the water, to bring us the most successful start to a racing season we have had for a long time despite the restrictions.
Our offering as a Club is inarguably special and unique, the very fact that we have had the pleasure of welcoming more than twenty new members during lockdown is true testament to that! The friendly
and welcoming nature of The RSYC has undoubtedly been one of the reasons why new members have chosen us rather than another club. You will read about one of our new members later in this edition of The Yachter.
So, today I am looking forward to welcoming our members back to Gins, and feel optimistic that the future is bright for The Royal Southampton Yacht Club, and it is time to start planning for an exciting 2021.
