We are sorting out for selling the farm. The investment 911 Porsche had to be sold early as there was no room at 73 Harrington Road but, I had to keep the Jeep as I always wanted a Willys Jeep since the age of 14. A local farmer, Tommy Dee, had one when I was farming for Bernard and I could see the potential of a Jeep for agricultural use – as did the Rover Car Company with the Land Rover after the war.
I wonder if Tommy’s Jeep could have been a deal with the Americans when they went back home after the war. The Americans came down to Rothwell Conservative Club in their Jeeps for their R & R where they made friends with local farmers, in particular, Bernard and Tommy.
