RAF Clay Shooting Championships
 By Sgt Boddington
The RAF Clay Pigeon Shooting Association Championships were held at the Nottingham and District Gun Club located on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest.
Open to all serving RAF personnel, those employed at an RAF establishment and guests, the event was very inclusive and gathered a truly diverse group of shooters.
The Championships ran over four days, each day hosting a different discipline. I competed in the ‘English Sporting’ day which ran over 14 stands simulating different types of game such as pheasant flying away from you or one target that bounced along the ground a few feet in front of you, this was called ‘Rabbit”, shooting so close felt a little over kill when the target completely disintegrated when hit.
The RAF Wyton Clay Shooting Club is now open and accepting new membership. The club is available to everyone at RAF Wyton and has access to the excellent facilities at Sporting Targets in the village of Risely, Bedfordshire.
All experience levels welcome and secure storage for your shotgun is available in the Station Armoury.
If you do not possess a shotgun or certificate, the club can offer guidance on the application process and guns can be hired at Sporting Targets when escorted by a certificate holder.

     RAF Wyton Model Aircraft Club
By WO Hopkins
RAF Wyton Model Aircraft Club is looking for new members. The club has a long history of operating at RAF Wyton, reaching back to the 1950s. With the membership flying remote controlled aircraft, including drones, the club is open to Service people, civilian colleagues from all units employed at RAF Wyton and their dependants.
The club is able to provide you with access
to building space, training as you learn to fly and also if you want to learn about first person view and aerial imaging from multirotors, you will be best placed by getting involved with the club, helping to keep you legal and safe. The club is closely aligned with the RAF Model Aircraft Association and has over the years trained model pilots to fly at air shows, supported STEM initiatives and promoted
airmindedness amongst Service personnel and the RAF Air Cadets.
If you have always wanted to learn to fly an RC aeroplane, or you have treated yourself to a shiny new drone, you need to get in touch! Want to support in a key role? We are looking for a Deputy OC, a membership secretary and a treasurer. Contact the Club OC: simon.hopkins334@mod.gov.uk
