ments. We are always delighted when
new recruits visit us to learn about the
history of their regiment.
Team News and Contacts
We are extremely lucky to have a very
strong team with a variety of talents.
Major Mark Evans has just taken over
the role of Chairman of the Wales and
West Army Museums Network (WWAM).
This network is one of several around
the country, grouped by location by
the National Army Museum, providing
opportunities for military museums to
collaborate and share ideas. The most
recent meeting of the WWAM network
was on the 17th October,
held in Firing Line Museum.
He is also still serving in the
Army Reserve as the QM (R)
of The Royal Yeomanry.
Hannah continues her
DPhil Studies in Victorian
regimental history at the
University of Oxford. At the
beginning of the year, she
was lucky to be able to visit
Lucknow (India), followed
swiftly by a fundraising walk
for the Army Benevolent
Fund across the Wadi Rum
(Jordan). The publishing
of her book on the 2nd
Dragoon Guards in Lucknow
1857-1859 remains expected within the
next year.
Iain Fife continues in his role as Front
of House Supervisor, leading a fantastic
team of six employees and around five
volunteers. In September 2024, Iain trav-
elled to Arnhem to commemorate the
80th anniversary of Operation Market
Garden.
We are
extremely
lucky to have
a very strong
team with
a variety of
talents.

Volunteer and Placement
Opportunities
Firing Line continues to work alongside
Cardiff University in the provision of
voluntary and work placement opportu-
nities, with several placements expected
to go live imminently. This is a positive
collaboration that has seen the museum
work with the University Careers Devel-
opment department as well as with
volunteers from the School of History,
Archaeology and Religion.
The museum is always interested to
hear from anybody who would like to
find out more about volunteering at the
museum. Please contact Mark Evans if
you are interested.
We are also looking for artefacts from
any operational tours that you may have
stored away and could be of use to our
collection and exhibitions.
Finally, our usual reminder for all those
who have served with our regiment,
you are entitled to free access to the
museum. For practicality’s sake, please
contact Mark Evans before your visit to
allow us to book you in with the castle.
