The Regimental engagement team’s
2024 has been one of familiarity but also
one that has made new connections
throughout Wales.
The year’s first quarter saw the return
of Tpr Ridgway whose professional
demeanour while at the RET will be
missed. Replacing in his absence was to
be LCpl Murphy and Tpr Thole who both
have become imperative to the multifac-
eted roles at the RET.
Alongside the key events the team
takes on we have been fortunate to
witness the creation of the first and
currently only QDG affiliated CCF
situated out of Rydal Penrhos School,
Colwyn Bay. We will be close by to offer
support and wish them much success for
the future.
To round the year off our efforts to
support the both the RBL and The
Dreams and Wishes Charity were very
successful. The RBL surge within Cardiff
and the surrounding areas surpassed
the previous years for a grand total of
£47,769 and the relationship between the
regiment and Dreams and Wishes has
been strengthened with the hospital and
London visits.
The team is looking forward to contin-
uing its work into 2025.

This year has been an amazing
year for the Regimental Mascot.
He has travelled thousands of
miles engaging with members
of the public in Wales and the
surrounding counties. Taking part
in some amazing events like the
Royal Welsh Show where he leads
the grand parade each day.
2024 had seen some new events
and some surprising moments for
the Mascot as well as the Regi-
mental Farrier Major. We both
took part in the Cavalry Memorial
Parade in London for the first time.
But the highlight for the year
was seeing Cpl Jones getting
his well-deserved promotion by
the new Colonel-in-Chief HRH
Princess Of Wales. Cpl Jones was
also on parade to receive his Kings
Coronation Medal for his part that
he undertook in Wales.
